The Exhibition Reception on
Friday, August 31, 7 - 9pm has been cancelled.

Performance + Exhibition Reception
Saturday, September 1, 7:30 - 9:30pm
Performance Begins at 8pm

The VESTIBULE collective represents an ever-evolving collaboration with artists across a wide range of creative disciplines. TAINT, Pt.1 is a mash-up of media and performance created by dancer/choreographer Jasmine Heiss and performance artist/actress Catalina Lavalle, with visual artists Joseph Hale, Joseph Orzal, Deshaundon Jeanes, and HKS181. The piece also features guest performer Melinda Diachenko. The show is inspired by Antonio Negri and Michael Hardt’s Neo-Marxist classic, Empire. The artists have adopted the book to use as guidelines to liberate their own approach to art and collaboration. The show features art, performance and dance.

* SATURDAY, 8/25, 2 - 4PM, BOURGEON WRITES *

Bourgeon Writes are regular opportunities for writers to share their work in a supportive environment. Come share something you’ve written, or just come and listen. Suggested donation of $5-$10 dollars to support the magazine Bourgeon (online at http://www.bourgeononlince.com) which has been serving the DC arts community since 2005. Poet Joseph Ross will be joining Bourgeon Magazine for a special Bourgeon Writes event at The Fridge August 25th from 7-9pm.

Joseph Ross moved to Washington, D.C. in 2000, where he founded the Writing Center at Carroll High School and taught at American University. Little Patuxent Review and Baltimore’s Pratt Library awarded their 2012 poetry prize to his poem “If Mamie Till Was the Mother of God.” He is the author of several books including the recently published The Bone Man, which one reviewer described saying, “the strength of the collection is the voice’s unabashed concern for other human beings… At their best, Ross’ poems find ways to merge images that bring to fore the surreal nature of persisting in the midst of great pain.” Come share your work, and listen to other poets read.
